My name is Mr. Lawal Yakubu Gada, I was born in Nigeria in the year 1969. I Hold a Master Degree in Environmental Management (MEM) and over 18 years post-graduation experience as an environmentalist with special interest on Resource Management, Climate Change and Renewable Energy. I worked with a Developmental Finance Bank (Nigeria’s Bank of Industry) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on a Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation project: “Access to Renewable Energy Project”.
Also, I worked as an Assistant Project Manager (APM) in a partnership project between the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and Federal Government of Nigeria through its Federal Ministry of Environment between year 2006 and late 2007. The project is titled “Integrated Ecosystem Management (IEM) Project in the transboundary areas between Nigeria and Republic of Niger”.
I attended the 2009 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP-15) on Climate Change at Copenhagen, Denmark/ I attended and presented a paper on: 'Renewable Energy as a Panacea to Global Environmental Problems' at the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid, Spain (July, 2008). I also attended the Anglophone African Regional Writeshop to Support Developing Country Publications on Disaster Risk Reduction and Adaptation to Climate Change which took place on 7-11 February, 2011 in Accra, Ghana. The Writeshop was organised by The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) and the UN University (UNU).
