Dr. Hoge is the Director of Teacher Support for the National Center for Science Education. After a stint teaching middle and high school science, Hoge earned his Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology at Rice University. He comes to NCSE from the University of Houston-Downtown, where he held a joint appointment in science education and natural sciences, and also served as the director of HUNSTEM, the Houston Urban Network for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. At NCSE, he is coordinating and expanding NCSE's efforts to ensure that science teachers are able to teach socially controversial topics accurately, honestly, and confidently.
